NTSC / J PS3 Games Region 1?
I have a / NTSC J PS3 and the games I have Mercenaries 2, Dead Space, Grand Theft Auto IV in GTA IV is the region 2, while the two Mercenaries 2 and Dead Space are in Region 3. I was wondering if my PS3 can play a part of Region 1. I do know is the PS3 region free although I'm not really sure if this will work. I live in the Philippines, Baguio City and I use an HDTV with a cable HD. The mention of high definition because although I have heard something of the person in the store I went to play HDTV. I doubt that the game (which is Far Cry 2) works well since I heard about this person that some PS3 could not play some games depending on the region.
Yes, all PS3 games are Region Free with one exception: Army of Two by EA. This game has been blocked for very specific reasons to do with censorship laws and problems of network play. Apart from that part (Army of Two), a PS3 can play any PS3 game from any region.

Buying a PS3 60GB with backward compatibility in new PS3 80 GB without it?
It is a difficult decision. I could very well sell my PS2 and GameStop Buy used PS3 with backwards compatibility. Its sale to cover the additional costs of the game stop the price of 60 GB used in 429.99 dollars, or you can simply buy a new PS3 80GB for $ 399.99. I'm sure I used the PS3 does not come with warranty from Sony, the policy does Back in stores, so there is a risk of buying used. Then I could keep my PS2 if I ever really wanted to play games again. I sincerely doubt ever really, I think the best solution would be to buy a new one. I guess I just need some input before making my decision. Gamestop PS2 sells for $ 60, so there was probably Get $ 30. I think you get 50% of the purchase price, at least in My experience.
I bought the PS3 compatible back because I still wanted to play older games. I ocassionaly but honestly Games the most recent. Make sure that the games they are compatible before outlaying the extra money. I was disappointed to find Guitar Hero 2 steps on the port correctly. Ask yourself what really matters is $ 30.00 and a guaranteed bonus of playing an old game? If the answer is yes, then do so. If the answer is not, then it is not the answer. BTW, what you get for your PS2?
